The Studio Series is a thrice-a-year evolving project that unites perfumery, writing, and art, in an exploration and analysis of the processes and phenomena of fragrance.
First, it provides perfume collectors with wearable perfumes-in-progress, as the perfumer experiences herself. They sample different moments in the chronology of evolving fragrance compositions, providing opportunities to enjoy the mostly secret variations which perfumes go through before completion. This reveals a unique olfactive narrative hardly found in large-scale commercial perfumery.
Second, each set features different perspectives on a theme, commissioned by writers and artists with strong views throughout the perfume community.
Studio Series 9 will feature, among others, the final in-progress iterations and completed release of the AEOOJ Project, a new perfume for which no details other than the acronymized name have been divulged. However, an essay on trauma, vessels, and perfume by writer, artist, and Instagram Stories superstar Sunday Williams (@sundaysmells) was commissioned for and elaborates this project. The essay will be printed as a collectible mixed-media zine which I have created.
Additionally, each set also comes with a digital essay in which I discuss the concepts, ideas, and processes behind each release. These digital essays are called Studio Wafts.
Studio Series 9 is slated for release in early May. Pre-orders and special bundles are now available for a limited time.
Studio Series 8 includes five experimental samples, a 2ml sprayer sample each of Beast Mode and Timbre EdP, and a collectible zine on gender in fragrance written by Ben Horner and illustrated by Stephen Grebinski.
