The Studio Series provides perfume collectors with wearable fragrances in-progress, as the perfumer experiences herself. They sample different moments in the chronology of fragrance compositions, providing opportunities to enjoy the mostly secret variations which perfumes go through before completion. This reveals a unique olfactive narrative hardly found in large-scale commercial perfumery.
Additionally, each set comes with an essay discussing life, perfumery, and each project's contents, called Studio Wafts. Click to read Studio Waft 7.
Studio Series 7 presents iterations of several projects:
The Crisis Project, which focuses on perfume materials that are being affected by climate change, materials which I also happen to (have) dislike(d) — real vanilla bean, ambroxan (a powdery ambergris chemical currently used to extreme in mass-market perfumery), and true tuberose. This set also features an offshoot project using tobacco and notes of paper.
The Rose Project, a new perfume whose loose concept is a fluorescent sour rose.
A new Incense Project featuring resins collected during a recent foraging trip to the San Bernardino National Forest. An approximate 3 gram sample of ground fresh Coulter pine resin recently collected on June 15th is included in each set. It can be burned as incense to enjoy a snapshot of this wondrous forest and rich tree sap.
Five perfume samples + 1 bag of powdered Coulter pine resin in total.
Studio Series 6 contains earlier iterations of the Chypre Project, Crisis Project, Project X, and the premiere of a new Rose project.
