The
Studio Series was a periodic, evolving project uniting perfumery, writing, and art, in an exploration and analysis of the processes and phenomena of fragrance.
First, it provided perfume collectors with wearable perfumes-in-progress, as the perfumer experiences themself. Each vial sampled a different moment in the chronology of an evolving fragrance composition, each an opportunity to enjoy the mostly secret variations which fragrances go through before completion. This reveals a unique narrative rarely found in perfumery.
Second, each set featured original writing and artwork, presenting different perspectives on a theme, commissioned from collaborators who hold sharp views in and outside the perfume community.
Studio Series 13 features a new essay by Sunday Williams
(@sundaysmells) titled "Disaster Tourism", illustrated by artist
Annie Bissett, and printed as a risograph zine by Erik Kiesewetter of
Constance. It includes a sprayer sample of a new perfume,
Leaves My Body, experimental perfume samples from the forthcoming
Ambergris Project, and a vial of real,
studio-tinctured ambergris, all artfully presented. (Note: this set contains natural musks.)
Lastly, an accompanying essay that I write about my processes, called
Studio Wafts, rounds out the experience.
Studio Waft 13 is now live.
Thank you! —
The Studio Series is now entirely sold out.
